Precautionary Canceled and Postponed Events due to Coronavirus

March 29, 2020Governor Carney Orders Out-of-State Travelers to Immediately Self-Quarantine for 14 Days

As of Wednesday, April 8, Governor Carney has issued a tenth update to the State of Emergency relating to COVID-19. This update bans all short-term rental units – including vacation home rentals, hotels, motels, and condo rentals – to help fight the spread of COVID-19. Commercial lodging in Delaware will remain closed through May 15, or until the public health threat is eliminated. The order exempts certain Delawareans and essential workers who may need access to short-term rental units. That list of exemptions includes caretakers with family members nearby, health care providers, journalists, and Delawareans with public housing vouchers. Victims of domestic violence who need alternative shelter also are exempted. Please view the attached FAQs regarding these new lodging restrictions.

As of Tuesday, March 24 at 8 a.m, Governor Carney has issued a Stay-At-Home order for Delawareans. All Non-essential businesses will close at that time. Some individual municipalities have ordered earlier closing times. For more information about this order, click here.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has consistently advised the public to practice everyday preventative measures to help stop the spread of germs, as typical in the current flu and respiratory disease season. There are no travel restrictions or advisories in the domestic U.S. If you are concerned about travel within the United States, please check updated CDC recommendations here

If you are in Southern Delaware and suspect you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, or have further questions regarding the Coronavirus, please call the DHSS information line: 1-866-408-1899.
